US blue-chip stocks rose on Thursday as better-than-expected economic data and healthy company earnings helped the mood on Wall Street, but higher oil prices limited the advances. American International Group Inc, the world's largest insurer by market value, rose about 3 percent to $71.35 a day after it said fourth-quarter profit rose 11 percent. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 47.66 points, or 0.45 percent, at 10,711.77.
The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 2.30 points, or 0.19 percent, at 1,194.29. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was down 0.58 point, or 0.03 percent, at 2,051.97.
