President General Pervez Musharraf has expressed his profound grief and sorrow over the loss of lives and damage to property following unprecedented rains in the country particularly in Balochistan province. The President said all resources have been mobilised to provide relief and succor to the affected people. He said all relevant institutions of the country including armed forces have been employed for providing assistance to the rain-victims.
General Pervez Musharraf directed all concerned to take urgent measures so as to prevent further losses and emphasised timely assistance to the needy.
He assured the people that the federal and provincial governments were closely monitoring the situation and necessary assistance would reach wherever needed.
He said the federal government would be forthcoming in extending more assistance to the provincial governments in all forms for the affected people.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has also expressed his deep concern over the loss of precious lives and damage to property due to the torrential rains and breach in the Shadi Kor dam near Pasni.
The Premier was talking to Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Muhammad Yousuf, who called on him here on Friday.
He appreciated the role of provincial administration, army and navy in providing prompt relief to the affected people and undertaking timely rescue operations.
The chief minister briefed the Prime Minister on the situation in the province following heavy rains and the losses caused. He also gave details of the relief operation.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz underscored the need to maintain law and order, particularly during Muharram-ul-Haram and to ensure the security of vital national installations in the province.
He also underlined the need for timely completion of the ongoing development projects in the province.
The chief minister apprised him of the measures being taken to improve the law and order situation and to provide adequate security to the people.
