A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday adjourned till next week further proceedings in an election petition against Speaker Punjab Assembly, Afzal Sahi. The counsel of Afzal Sahi submitted before the court that a division bench of the august court had already issued stay order in this matter. The court accordingly adjourned the proceedings for further hearing. The petitioner, Haji Liaquat has challenged election of the respondent, Afzal Sahi.
DPO DIRECTED: The LHC has directed DPO Kasur to appoint a police officer for holding inquiry into the matter of petitioner, Ikhlaq Ahmed, who was targeted by respondent police officials, and submit a report to the court within one month.
The petitioner contended that the respondent police officials involved him in fake cases. He therefore prayed to the court to direct the respondent police officials to act in accordance with the law and quash the cases registered against him.
The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel, M.D. Tahir at length, issued notice to respondent DPO and directed him to submit his report within one month.

ASI ARRESTED: The Lahore High Court (LHC) got arrested an ASI Khalil Ahmed of Raiwind Saddar Police Station for involving one Bashir Ahmed in a fake case.
The court, while allowing bail to Bashir Ahmed, observed that police officials who used to misuse their powers deserve to be awarded punishment under the law.
