The ongoing digging spree of utility organisations like PTCL, Wasa and TEPA at a number of city roads has led to severe hardships for both motorists and the pedestrians. The recent wet spell has just added to the worst by turning all the dug out roads into puddles. The areas mainly affected by road digging activity are-Ansari Road, Millat Road and Chauhan Road in Islampura, Lawrence Road and Gulshan-e-Ravi.
"The ditches developed due to the digging of roads, now filled with rain waters, may lead to some untoward incident," a resident of Islampura, Fatehuddin said.
"This is mainly due to the lack of co-ordination between district government and the utility organisations. Wapda, Wasa or PTCL start their work only after the completion of a road project, " Abdul Ghafoor, a resident of Gulshan-e-Ravi said. The co-ordination between the civic bodies can be helpful in saving both the infrastructure as well as funds.
