Myanmar's ruling generals marked the country's national day on Saturday with calls for support of its democracy plan, but the opposition said the plan could not represent peoples' needs without its participation. The junta marked the 58th anniversary of the Union Day at the People's Square with a salute by guards of honour.
The Commander of Yangon Command read a message sent by junta's supreme leader, who called on people to strive for "the successful implementation of the seven-point future policy programme".
The policy programme is being discussed by the National Convention.
