Indian firms LMJ International and MK International have offered the lowest price and won a tender to sell 70,000 tonnes of non-basmati parboiled rice to Bangladesh at $269.00 per tonne, officials said on Saturday. The consignment is expected to be supplied in instalments over the next 30 to 40 days at Chittagong port. "The contracts will be signed soon to supply the food grain on a CIF (cost, insurance and freight) basis," a senior official of the Ministry of Food and Disaster Management said.
"Of the tendered 70,000 tonnes, LMJ International will supply 50,000 tonnes while the other 20,000 tonnes will be supplied by MK International," ministry senior assistant secretary Tapan Kumar Chakravorty told.
