British Conservative Party candidate for House of Commons from Dewberry Barrister Saeeda Warsi urged India and Pakistan to hold meaningful dialogue to resolve the longstanding Kashmir issue. Talking to reporters here on Saturday she said that Britain was serious in resolution of Kashmir issue and it was ready to facilitate the two countries in continuing their dialogue process.
She said both India and Pakistan should hold dialogue to resolve their outstanding issues and end the tension, adding that the tension between the two countries had deprived the people of South Asia of the opportunities of development and prosperity.
"Muslim World has a big role to help India and Pakistan resolve Kashmir issue, which is eating the huge chunk of the resources of the two countries", Barrister Warsi added
She said that print and electronic media had failed to present the Kashmir problem in its true perspective and help build a powerful public opinion for the solution of this core issue.
She was of the opinion that Palestinian issue and various other international issues were presented in a way and the entire world supported these movements, but Kashmir is still without international support.
British Conservative Party leader said that no trade and economic relations with India would prove fruitful till the solution of Kashmir issue.
Barrister Warsi, who is also Advisor to British Conservative Party chief Michael Howard, said that the total voters in her constituency (Dewsbury) are 61,000 with more than 17 percent Muslim population.
"My first preference in UK is to protect the rights of the Muslims and resolve their problems at the earliest", she added.
She said that she is the first Asian lady, who got the Conservative Party ticket for House of Commons and she enjoys full support of her party.
Criticising the role of British Prime Minister Tony Blair she said, Blair had lost public support as a result of his policy on Iraq and Afghan. She said, he will have to face a tough defeat in the 2005 general elections of United Kingdom (UK).
"Blair supports America in his military invasion in Iraq and Afghanistan, which deprived the labour party of the popular support and the 2005 general elections would dethrone Blair and his group from the power," she maintained.
Barrister Saeeda Warsi, who is the first Asian origin lady contesting elections on the Conservative Party ticket for a seat in British Parliament's lower house, expressed her dismay over Tony Blair's policies and said that it had hurt Muslim population in the UK.
