Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) has issued a notice to superintendent Attock Jail for rejecting the request for meeting of the accused, arrested in a suicide attack on Shaukat Aziz, with their families. During the hearing of applications, filed by parents of accused Noor Badshah, Qari Umar and Qari Siddiq, pleading that the jail officials were not allowing them to meet their children, who have been in a custody for long time, Safder Hussain Malik, Judge Anti Terrorist Court stated that jail officials are authorised to allow them to meet their children.
It may be recalled that police had arrested more than six persons for their involvement in the suicide attack on Shaukat Aziz in July by-polls for National Assembly, in which seven people including one suicide bomber was perished while 26 others were injured.
The parents of the accused have pleaded that for a long time their children have been in the custody but they were not presented in any court of the law. Since the police had declared their detention they have been sent on judicial remand.
The parents stated that they went to jail officials and requested the authority to allow them to have a meeting with their children but they denied. The ATC judge in his order stated that the applicants must contact the jail officials and in case they deny them of meeting with their children then they should contact the court.
