South Africa's Ryk Neethling followed his opening day world record with two more golds on Saturday at the FINA World Cup short course swimming competition. Neethling notched a world record in the men's 100 metre individual medley on Friday and a US Open record in the 200 metre freestyle Saturday, finishing in one minute, 43.12 seconds. Canada's Brent Hayden, of Canada, followed in 1:46.09 and Nick Brunelli, of the US, was third in 1:46.41.
Franck Esposito of France took the gold in the 100 metre butterfly clocking 51.71 seconds.
Canada's Mike Mintenko, a two-time Olympian, was second in 52.50 and Romain Barneri of France third in 52.91.
Olympic gold medallist Kaitlin Sandeno didn't show any rust from a three and a half month break prior to the New York meet.
Sandeno captured her second and third victories in the 400 metre individual medley and 200 metre butterfly to bring her meet total to three.
Germany's Annika Mehlhorn looked like she might upset Sandeno in the butterfly final but the American changed gears in the final 25 metres to win in 2:07.45.
Slovakias Martina Moracova also won three events. American Kate Ziegler dominated the 400m freestyle for the second night in a row, easily defeating Spains Erika Villaecija for her second World Cup title. Zieglers time of 4:05.52 was almost two seconds faster than her best time.
Meanwhile, Mintenko was relieved to hear Montreal was re-awarded the world aquatic championships last week which are scheduled for July 17-31.
