The chairman, District Zakat and Ushr Committee, Mirpurkhas, Haji Mohammad Akhlaque, has said that Rs 12,175,000 had been distributed among the deserving persons in three Talukas of the district under the schemes of Jahez fund, Rehabilitation scheme and Guzara allowance. He was speaking at a ceremony to distribute Zakat cheques among the deserving at Gulistan-e-Baldia in Taluka Mirpurkhas on Saturday
On this occasion, EDO (Revenue) Shamsuddin Sakherani was also present.
The Zakat body official said Rs 9,970,000 had been distributed among 5,980 deserving persons at the rate of Rs 1,500 per deserving person under the head of Guzara allowance in the district.
He said that Rs 1,045,000 was distributed among 209 deserving persons as Rs 5,000 each in the head of Rehabilitation Scheme, while Rs 1,160,000 was distributed among 116 poor girls at the rate of Rs 10,000 per person under the Jahez Fund.
Haji Akhlaque informed that Rs 788,000 was granted to six health welfare committees, including the Civil Hospital, Mirpurkhas, the Rural Health Centre, Mirwah Gorchani, the Jhuddo Hospital, the Taluka Hospital, Kot Ghulam Mohammad, the Taluka Hospital, Digri, and the District Jail Hospital, Mirpurkhas, for treatment of poor in the district.
He said the Zakat money was being distributed through crossed cheques among the deserving persons during open kacheries in the district.
EDO (Revenue) Shamsuddin Sakherani lauded the officials of District Zakat Committee as through its efforts the Zakat was being distributed honestly among the deserving ones in the district under a transparent procedure.
Earlier, District Zakat Officer Farman Ali Tanwari and Taluka Chairman Mohammad Iqbal also spoke on the occasion.
