A nine-member delegation of Shia Ulema Council Pakistan (Sindh) led by Allama Hasan Turabi called on Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and discussed the issues regarding "Azadari Syedush Shuhada" (mourning) during Muharram. The delegation referred to some incidents in Sindh and expressed predictions regarding problems that could be faced in the coming days. They said that all possible protection and facilities be provided to the mourners and added that police and bureaucracy must not disturb them in their traditional manner.
The delegation expressed the faith that Muslim Ummah could foil all conspiracies against Islam thorough unity and harmony.
Chief Minister assured them that government would make all possible efforts to maintain harmony and brotherhood during Muharram and added that fool proof security and other measures had been taken in this regard.
Dr Arbab said that all the sects among Muslims love Hazrat Imam Hussain and would ever remember his great sacrifice. Dr Arbab Rahim said that police and administration throughout the province had been issued special directives and any uneven element or situation would be dealt strictly.
He urged upon all sects to promote harmony and brotherhood to foil the evil wills of anti-Pakistan elements who intend to create sectarian conflicts.
Dr Arbab Rahim taking prompt action on some of the problems placed by the delegation asked for reports from DPO Sanghar and other officers on telephone.
He further said that representatives of all sects would be given representation in committees concerning law and order.
Chief Secretary Sindh Aslam Sanjrani, IGP Sindh Asad Jehangir, CCPO Karachi Tariq Jamil were present.
