Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Monday said the "ethics retreat" will provide a good opportunity to have an open debate on ethics and deliberate on ways to improve the quality of governance in the country. The retreat - the first ever in the country, is discussing how to improve the ethics environment and the quality of governance, the Prime Minister told reporters here at the Prime Minister House.
He said the retreat, being attended by the federal cabinet and representatives of the provincial governments, is aimed at generating ideas in a relaxed atmosphere and develop teamwork. The retreat has been arranged by transparency international.
The meeting began here at 630 hrs at the PM house with opening remarks by Prime minister Shaukat Aziz. The cabinet members after the lunch went in for presentations, where they were apprised on ways and means of improving efficiency, governance while also stressing the need of developing strong work ethics at their respective ministries.
President General Pervez Musharraf is to address the concluding session, which will be followed by an informal dinner.
