Karachi Nazim Naimatullah has said that various projects including the construction of 19 roads are in the process. An Urban Bus Service project shall start in the suburb areas of the city pertaining to which 250 buses have reached recently and the Karachi Circular Railway's first track comprising Nazimabad, Liaquatabad and North Karachi route will start in March, he added. Naimatullah Khan was addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Banaras Chowk and Rehman Causeway Flyover.
The Karachi Nazim said that the infrastructure in the city was deteriorating before local government system was introduced, after which it has progressed rapidly.
He said from last year, the local government had made improvements in transport by inducting new buses, and an Urban Bus Service system has been introduced at the priority basis of which 250 buses had come out of 500 comparatively.
The Karachi Circular Railway is also the part of priority-based projects commencing from March at Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, North Karachi and other localities of the city with nominal fare, the Nazim said. He said that about 100 billion rupees had been spent on Karachi uplift.
The Karachi Nazim also stated that various development projects are going on at underdeveloped city areas especially in Orangi, where a main road and four auxiliaries are being constructed, whereas in Lyari, three roads including Tannery road, Siddique Wahab road and Bhittai road are being uplifted.
