'Muharram sacred for all Muslims'

The month of Muharram is equally sacred for all religious sects of Muslims; and there can be no difference of opinion in this regard, said Punjab Zakat and Ushr Minister Khadim Hussain Wattoo. Talking to delegations from various districts, who called at his office here on Monday; he said that the best way to uphold the sanctity of Muharram was for the entire Ummah to maintain the peace and ensure unity in their ranks.
The minister observed that the revered grandson of the Holy Prophet (PBUH); his offspring and his apostles offered the ultimate sacrifice in Karbala to uphold the values of Islam, and to fight injustice and intolerance.
He urged the general public and religious leaders from all schools of thought to establish peace, tolerance and brotherhood in the country, especially in this holy month, and to thwart anti- Islam elements who wished to spread sectarian strife.
