The scientists of Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) are conducting studies on regular basis to determine the extent of environmental damage at various sites of different cities and suggesting remedial measures. Chairman PCSIR, Dr Anwar-ul-Haq talking to newsmen on Tuesday said: "We have carried out a study on ambient air and noise pollution in Karachi for Nespak, in connection with consultancy services for transport planning and traffic management in Defence Housing Society. A report has been prepared based on this study", he added.
He said environmental impact assessment (EIA) studies were also conducted for the private sector, for the flow of gases released by a stack of two boilers and four generators.
The measurement of light intensity was also carried out in different sections of the project, he said, while 31 samples of water and waste water were also annualised according to WHO guidelines for various public and private sector organisations.
