The Swiss franc was little changed in early trade on Tuesday as dealers awaited US capital flows data which will show how the US is funding its current account deficit. The dollar last changed hands at 1.1976/82 francs virtually unchanged from 1.1979/83 in late Monday trading. The euro stood at 1.5534/45 francs, from levels of 1.5541/44 on Monday.
US capital flows data for December is due at 1400 GMT. In November, net inflows of capital were $81 billion, the highest level since June and up from $48.3 billion in October.
Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan will give twice-yearly testimony to the Senate on Wednesday and the House of Representatives on Thursday.
His remarks will be watched closely for comments on the US economy, monetary policy and whether he will stand by a recent speech in which he gave what the market saw as a relatively optimistic outlook on US current account deficit.
