International Islamic Relief Organisation (IIRO), Saudi Arabia on Thursday dispatched emergency relief goods for rain and flood victims in Balochistan province. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Ejaz-ul-Haq, Saudi Ambassador in Pakistan, Ali Bin Saeed Bin Awad Asairi saw off caravan of trucks carrying relief goods at IIRO Office here. The relief goods sent for 1000 families included 1000 tents, 4000 blankets and large quantity of edibles.
Speaking on the occasion, Ejaz-ul-Haq said flash floods and snowfall in Balochistan and Northern Areas affected thousands of people, there was huge loss of lives and property but the actual damage was still being assessed. He appreciated Saudi leadership, government and people for sending relief goods for the flood affected people of Balochistan.
"These relief items would encourage not only our own people but also other international organisations to assist the people suffering from floods," he added.
Saudi Ambassador Ali Awad Asairi said "helping calamities effected people reflects teachings of Islam in the real meaning. Saudi Leadership, Government and people were concerned about loss of lives and property caused by the floods in Balochistan and other areas, he added.
He acknowledged that government of Pakistan took prompt relief operation but people of Saudi Arabia contributed relief items to express affection and solidarity. Saudi Government, he added, would continue to assist its Pakistani brethren in the time of need.
Director General, Islamic Relief Organisation in Pakistan, Rahmatullah Nazir Khan in his welcome address said that another consignment of relief goods would be despatched to snowfall and torrential rains effected people in Northern Areas.
