The speakers including Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sher Afgan and Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis Tariq Azeem Khan called for promoting the ideals of the father of the nation Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for image building of the country, economic prosperity and its solidarity. They stated this at a dinner reception hosted by Jinnah Foundation of Peace and Public Policy (JFPP) in the honour of the JFPP visiting Director Majid Hussain from USA here in a local hotel on Thursday.
The Minister of State for Health Shahnaz Sheikh, Parliamentary Secretary on Cabinet and Member of the National Assembly (MNA) and National Co-ordinator Jinnah Foundation Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Musaddaq Chughtai, and Ahmad Shahzad also spoke on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Sher Afgan Khan Niazi stressed the need for promoting the moto of Quaid-i-Azam "unity, faith and discipline" in order to make Pakistan a strong and prosperous country.
He also called for promoting tolerance in politics for the promotion of democracy in the country.
He lauded the vision and mission of Jinnah Foundation for the promotion of ideals of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah at domestic and international levels.
Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis Tariq Azeem Khan said the overseas Pakistanis could play an important role in the image building of the country abroad.
He said the present government was taking steps for the welfare of overseas Pakistanis and lauded their contribution to the development of Pakistan.
He added the ratio of remittances of overseas Pakistanis had increased by 18.5 percent as compared to last year.
He also called upon them to play their vital role in the promotion of education including science and technology, and health sector in Pakistan. He said presently 43 overseas Pakistani volunteers were helping education sector in Pakistan.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, in her address of welcome, vowed to work for the promotion of education, health and economic reforms for the socio-economic prosperity of the country.
She also highlighted the aims and objectives of Jinnah Foundation especially with reference to the promotion of ideals of Father of nation Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The other speakers also called for unity among the nation and promotion of Quaid' s motto of unity, faith and discipline to make Pakistan a strong and viable country in the comity of nations and further improve its image globally.
