Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri said that he has impressed upon the Indian government for an early and final settlement of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Both countries will be able to move forward to promote strategic stability in South Asia, Kasuri opined. In an interview to a foreign media, the Minister further said that both the governments have agreed to allow travel across the LoC between occupied Srinagar and Muzaffarabad by bus and that the two sides have also agreed to co-operate in reducing the risk of atomic accidents and attacks.
India also discussed with Pakistan the possibility of participating in the three billion-dollar gas pipeline being planned from Iran and Pakistan, the minister said.
Taking part in the programme Indian Foreign Minister Natwar Singh observed that he was convinced that co-operation between India and Pakistan is not just a desirable objective; it is in today's context imperative.
