The rupee shed two paisa in relation to the dollar in the open market on Saturday for buying and selling at 59.57 and 59.62, respectively. The rupee fluctuated marginally due to smooth supply of the dollar, dealers said. The local currency is likely to show mixed trend versus the greenback, they added. The euro recovered 70 paisa in relation to the local currency for buying and selling at Rs 78.75 and Rs 79.05, respectively.
The single European currency managed to gain modest ground on the back of dollar's weakness versus the leading currencies in the overseas markets, dealers said.
In the world markets, the dollar was down on Friday after US jobs data, though stronger than expected, disappointed traders hoping for a blockbuster number.
INTER-BANK RATES: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged for buying and selling at Rs 59.34 and Rs 59.35, marketmen said.
