President General Pervez Musharraf has said that Pakistan's war against religious extremism and terrorism is being appreciated by the world at large. Talking to newsmen on board his special plane on way back home after paying a four-day official visit to the two Central Asian Republics, he said Uzbekistan has appreciated Pakistan's stand against religious extremism and terrorism.
President said he has assured President Islam Karimov that Uzbek nationals would not be allowed to use Pakistani territory against the interests of Uzbekistan.
Pervez Musharraf said the leadership of both the countries have expressed a keen desire to gain trade access to world markets through Pakistani ports of Gwadar and Karachi.
To a question, President said his idea of enlightened moderation has received appreciation in the international community including the Central Asian Republics.
In fact, Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev in his book has dealt with this idea at length, he added.
About ECO, he said, there is need to increase trade between the member countries and revitalise the organisation.
President Pervez Musharraf further said that his visit to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan has enhanced Pakistan's political and diplomatic relations with these countries leading to increased trade and economic ties.
He said Pakistan has historical and cultural bonds with these countries and there was need to establish strong relations at the political and diplomatic level.
He said he is fully satisfied with the visit as the leadership of the two Central Asian countries have developed good personal understanding.
