State Minister for Education Ghulam Bibi Bharwana has said that all governmental and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) should go to the far-flung areas of the country and create awareness about the education and other social issues. She told this to the reporters on the occasion of the annual sports prizes distribution ceremony organised by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) here on Tuesday.
The state minister said that it was the prime responsibility of the working organisations to bring at par the backward areas of the country with cities by organising seminars, shows and other awareness programmes.
She further said that ministry of education was concentrating not only on formal education but also on the physical fitness of the students, for which the ministry was ready to co-operate with the educational institutions. She appreciated the FBISE for its efforts to provide sports facilities to the affiliated educational institutions.
She also emphasised colleges and schools to provide sports opportunities and encourage the students to take part in various sports related activities.
The state minister also distributed awards and medals among the winner teams in the inter-directorate schools and colleges tournament of 2004-05.
Addressing the gathering Chairman FBISE Commodore M.S. Shamshad (Retd) said that board would provide all sports facilities to the institutions which would produce good players in future.
He said that almost all the federal colleges and schools took part in the tournament 2004-05 and said that the affiliated institutions in overseas would also participate from the coming year.
Shamshad further said that the board has asked CDA for allotting a piece of land to construct a gymnasium and he was optimistic that CDA would provide it immediately and within six month gymnasium would be constructed.
On their best performance, 14 students from different schools and colleges were awarded medals.
MRF Science College Kamra (Attock) was the winner in girls' schools, while in the boys' side Federal Directorate of Education Islamabad won the first prize.
