Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance (PICG) would soon introduce regular programmes for education on Corporate Governance as a subject for directors, corporate executives and CFO of companies. According to a release issued on Thursday, the Institute's first meeting of Academic Committee of the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance (PICG) was held at the IBA City Campus on March 9.
The said committee comprises of Danishmand Director, IBA, Sher Afghan Malik, former President ICAMP, and Dr Tariq Hassan, Chairman SECP, who is also Chairman of the Institute and its academic committee.
The committee discussed various options concerning the academic and professional activities to be undertaken by the Institute and decided to hold a series of seminars at all major cities of the country, to promote good governance practices amongst the directors and executives of the limited companies.
The institute shall soon introduce regular programmes for education on Corporate Governance as a subject and training in the field of corporate governance for directors, corporate executives, and CFO of companies by using educational facilities of IBA and LUMS who are amongst the promoters of the institute.
The committee also observed that under the existing arrangement, the prospective members of the Institute will immediately be benefited from the available wide range of research and publication facilities of the IBA including a library having unique collection of over 50,000 books.
It may be recalled that PICG has been recently established by SECP, SBP, Stock Exchange, ICAP, ICAMP, IBA, LUMS, FPCCI and other leading trade bodies as its promoters, to promote good governance practices in the country in line with other developed countries.-PR
