Pakistan Goods Transport Association (PGTA) has threatened to hold complete wheel jam in the country if their demands were not fulfilled before March 15. This was stated by PGTA leaders Chaudhry Mukhtar Ahmed and Muhammad Yousuf here while addressing a press conference. They were flanked by association leaders, who came from different parts of the country to show their strength in favour of their demands.
The association has presented an eight-point charter of demand to Punjab government demanding that their problems should be resolved before March 15, adding that the association has summoned a meeting on March 15 in order to form future strategy.
They said that in charter of demand the association has called upon federal government to abolish the oil advisory committee and end the fortnightly rise in the oil prices and make it an annual venture. They said that the kidnapping of carriage vehicles on highways has become a routine and life and property of transporters is at stake. Government should take stock of the worsening situation and make sure the safety and security of transporters, they demanded.
They also demanded that government should withdraw the increase made in toll tax at different bridges and entrances in different cities and make sure to end the policy of imposing different taxes.
The PGTA leaders demanded complete implementation on the agreement occurred between motorway police and association for the height of 14 ft per truck. They also demanded to end the policy of challans without any legal justification by traffic police.
