A Chinese business delegation will reach Islamabad on Monday to explore new opportunities for strengthening economic partnership. The delegation, led by Chen Jinhua, President China Enterprise Confederation comprises representatives of Chinese prominent business companies. The visit is taking place on the invitation of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, said Commercial Councillor in Beijing Shahid Mahmood.
During the weeklong stay in Pakistan, the delegation will find out business prospects in sectors like steel, automobile, plastic, chemicals, electronics, textile and real estate development.
The Prime Minister had held detailed meeting with the Chinese business leaders during his recent visit to Beijing and Shanghai and sought their greater participation in the economic development of Pakistan.
Chen in an interview with APP praised China-Pakistan relations and said it is broadening in all directions. Recently we have seen frequent visits by the members of the business circle and their trade and commercial ties were growing to higher levels.
He said he was motivating the Chinese companies to take their capital to Pakistan for enhancing mutually beneficial co-operation and obtaining better returns on their investment.
"We consider Pakistan a strong and reliable partner and are looking forward to develop bilateral partnership in the economic field," Chen added.
Meanwhile, Pakistan and China have agreed to take tough measures to check illegal border trade. In this connection, a Pakistani delegation led by Muhammad Ramzan Bhatti, member Customs Central Board of Revenue held detailed discussion with his Chinese counterpart in Beijing this week.
They agreed to upgrade the existing information network to control narcotics trafficking, smuggling and other illegal transaction. Bhatti hoped that the new measures will help reduce custom offensives.
