Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday met Prince Hassan bin Talal of Jordan, former Malaysian premier Dr Mahathir Mohammed and South African leader Ahmed Kathdara, and discussed ways to dispel misperception about Islam and promote inter-faith harmony. Talking to these leaders at the PM House, Shaukat Aziz observed that inter-faith misunderstanding was increasing and there was a need to address this problem. He also underlined the need of reinvigorating the Organisation of Islamic Conference to address the challenges facing the Muslim Ummah.
The Prime Minister described the multicultural Malaysia as one of the finest example of inter-faith harmony that should be emulated by other societies.
Later talking to reporters, the Prime Minister welcomed the distinguished guests who are here to receive their doctorate degrees from the International Islamic University.
The Prime Minister also hosted a banquet for the distinguished guests.
