The lack of postal facilities highlighted by the public through Press and various complaints to the PMG (Sindh), still stand unattended and unresolved. There is only one post office in Gulistan-e-Jouhar area, Karachi, without its proper establishment which requires the under-mentioned facilities to meet the public's needs on an urgent-basis:
2. The location of the 'post-office' is in a residential-area, deep behind a few streets from the main road, where no other office exists. The main concept of a commercial area is easy approach to the public been completely ignored in choosing the site of the said post office.
3. Despite its location amid the residential area and high-rise buildings, no arrow or signboards from the main-road leading to the post-office for public guidance have been fixed due to which it remains unknown, and is difficult to find, forcing the public to go to far distant post offices.
4. The post office is without any "security-guards" due to which it has been robbed twice. After the two robbery-incidents, a tense atmosphere prevails in the said post office for the visiting public and staff working there due to the lack of security arrangements.
5. Therefore, this post office still needs the following arrangements.
A-- The posting of security to guard cash dealings between the public and the post office.
B-- Increase of working staff both in the morning and evening shifts
C-- Regular evening post office services from 1500-2100 hours.
D-- The electronically operated Weighing-Scale.
E-- Machine charging of mail instead of manual stamping in the evening.
F-- Provision of tube-lights, bulbs and fans at empty electric points in the post office.
G-- Adequate tables, chairs, cupboards and shelves.
H-- Opening of the GPO on the main road in the commercial area of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Hope the above arrangements will be done in the larger public and post office interest.
