Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan said the present government was keen for the welfare of journalists' community sides by side the freedom of press. He said all the District Governments in Sindh and Board of Revenue had been directed to take steps for housing facilities for the journalists in every district. He was talking to Provincial Advisor Salahuddin Hyder and other concerned officials who called on him at Governor House on Tuesday.
The Governor said development work was being carried out fast in the residential sector for the members of Karachi Press Club in Hawksbay scheme. He appreciated the efforts of Advisor Information for his efforts for improvement in the service structure of Information Department and, thus, that years long pending issue finally stood resolved.
The Advisor Information told the Governor under the guidance and on the directive of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain, the Information department, too, was working for providing relief to people. He said the upgradation of service structure for officials of Information Department was an old issue and it was the present coalition government, which paid attention to resolving the issue.
Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad expressed hope that officials of the Information Department would ensure effective liaison between press and government. He pointed out the press was an effective source for projecting and solving the problems of people. In that regard, he said the Information Officers should play their role as a duty.
