The NWFP Chief Minister Muhammad Akram Khan Durrani on Tuesday said the provincial government would establish an 'Investment Facilitation Center' in Peshawar that would provide solution to all problems of the industrialists and investors through one window operation. mHe was talking to a delegation of investors led by a renowned philanthropist and investor, and the Baibai Trust Mardan founder Ghulam Nabi, who called on him at Frontier's House Peshawar on Tuesday.
Ghulam Nabi assured the chief minister to invest in the frontier province in various sectors by his group of investors presently running huge concerns in Belgium.
The chief minister said the proposed facilitation centre would provide information about acquiring of leasing, agreements in various sectors, government services and identifying the areas for investment, besides provision of any related guidance.
The chief minister welcomed the philanthropic activities of Ghulam Nabi and said frontier province needed investment in various fields. His government had formed a uniform policy to deal with all investors and facilitate their investment in frontier province. There would be no under-table dealings. The provincial government had announced an unmatched package of incentives for the industrial sector.
He said the investment in various sectors and industrialisation in the province would prove to be a real poverty eradication programme. His government would provide every thing under the sun to persuade potential investors. The government had already prepared feasibilities of various projects.
The chief minister, particularly, referred to the hydroelectric undertaking, cement, and coal sectors etc and added that with the reconstruction of Afghanistan, the investment in cement would make more returns.
He said, "We have sites in hydel sector where the investors will generate their own electricity and even the provincial government will lease out land for setting up of industrial units near the hydel power generation station where the industrialists will produce electricity and consume it in his industrial unit."
The chief minister said unfortunately the investors of the frontier province did not know how to invest in various sectors. He also highlighted his government's efforts for improved services in education, health and other social sectors adding the poor voted for MMA and it wanted to serve the people up to their expectations.
