All Parties Kashmir Committee (APKC) in Britain's Parliament pressed its government not to support Indian claims for a permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council. "India is violating UNSC Resolutions," said Mirza Mahmood, who is member of ruling Labour Party in Britain and the first Asian Private Parliamentary Secretary.
Previously, opposition leader in AJK Legislative Assembly Barrister Sultan at a meeting organised by APKC of Britain's Parliament said that Kashmiris had always been voting in favour of Labour Party. But Labour Party continued backing to India in its bid to acquire permanent membership in the UNSC.
Reacting to this the All Parties Kashmir Committee wrote to Britain Premier Tony Blair asking him to play down India's claims for UNSC's membership and support UN Resolutions on Kashmir.
Mirza Khalid Mahmood told that Chairperson of All Parties Kashmir Committee, Lorna Fitzmen telephoned Britain's Foreign Minister Jack Straw and urging him to give up supporting India and favour the struggle of Kashmiris.
He said, later on he would take up this issue with Prime Minister Tony Blair as well as issue statement in this regard.
