The Commonwealth supports the efforts of member countries to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, which include ensuring that all boys and girls complete a full course of primary schooling and eliminating gender disparity in primary and secondary education by 2015.
The 53-member organisation is promoting action on six key areas of education which included, achieving universal primary education, eliminating gender disparities, improving quality in education, using distance learning to overcome barriers, supporting education in difficult circumstances, and mitigating the impact of HIV/AIDS on education.
