National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) is planning to establish more swift centers in Pakistan foreign missions abroad including in USA, UAE and United Kingdom to facilitate overseas Pakistanis including those hailing from Azad Jammu and Kashmir to get them registered with the authority, official sources said. The sources told APP here on Tuesday that necessary steps were being initiated by the Nadra to ensure the smooth and quick delivery of the computerised national identity cards to the overseas Pakistanis, including those inhibiting in the United Kingdom.
The Nadra has decided to establish swift centers in Pakistan consulates in New York, Dubai, UK and other countries under a phased programme on the special directives of President General Pervez Musharraf to redress the grievances of the overseas Pakistanis regarding the quick delivery of the computerised ID cards to the aspirants.
Two swift centers are already operating one each in London and Birmingham to issue the CNICs to the needy.
There would be no problem in future to the overseas Pakistanis seeking their computerised registration with the Nadra under the ongoing policy of the Pakistan government to issue the identity cards to Pakistani nationals.
About 128 swift centers are working presently all over Pakistan, including Azad Jammu Kashmir, according to the sources.
This database is currently holding data of around 54 million Pakistanis including minors. The Nadra has so far issued 663,259 NICOP and 27,632 PCO to Pakistan nationals living abroad.
It may be added that Nadra has so far issued the computerised NIC to about 40 million Pakistani nationals across the country including those settled abroad.
