The Ministry of Women Development (MoWD) has granted approval for budgetary allocation of Rs 1.4 million to conduct four national level workshops on "Gender Sensitisation". The Ministry will train 40 government officials, 40 police officials, 40 representatives from NGOs and Media, and 40 officials from the judiciary to educate them on gender sensitisation to adopt gender friendly behaviour in their organisations.
The main objective of the workshops was to make all the institutions gender sensitive in the country and provide healthy atmosphere, specially, to female members and to promote their economic, political and social empowerment.
According to annual statistics almost 90 per cent female employees faced sexual harassment in their offices.
The ministry will obtain nominations from the provincial governments for the workshop. The two-day workshop for police in their organisations will be held on March 25 and 26. The workshop for media and representatives of NGOs "how their organisations can become gender sensitive" will be held on March 29 to 30. The workshop for government officials will be held on April 1 to 2, to create awareness "how their offices can adopt healthy atmosphere".
The workshop for judicial officials will be held in May 2005 when the ministry receives the nominations.
