New York cocoa futures finished at a 22-month high Wednesday, bolstered by follow-through speculative and fund buying with limited producer selling lending support, traders said. The New York Board of Trade's benchmark May cocoa contract rose $44, or 2.5 percent, to settle at $1,829 a tonne, the loftiest settlement for a nearby contract since May 12, 2003, when it closed at $1,866 a tonne.
July cocoa finished up $42 at $1,843, while deferred deliveries likewise climbed $42 across the board.
