New York cocoa futures ended modestly firmer amid thinly traded volumes Thursday after early speculative-led buying had pushed the benchmark product to a new contract peak, traders said. The New York Board of Trade's bellwether May cocoa contract settled at $1,830 a tonne, up just $1, after dealing from $1,815 to a contract high $1,850, which was the loftiest level for a nearby contract since May 2003.
