Muhammad Asif of Pakistan Railways secured the Yellow Jersey in stage eight of the 12th Tour de Pakistan International Cycle Race reaching Lahore ahead of 50 other riders. He completed the 160km distance from Sahiwal to Lahore in 4 hours, 59 minutes and 28 seconds. Iranian cyclists M. Riza Kirmadi and Javad Moosavi followed closely to cross the finish line at short intervals of 10 seconds each, to achieve 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.
Thomas Lauterbach of Germany and Dilsher Ali of Wapda got 5th and 6th positions, respectively.
At the finish point, the famous "Kalma Chowk" in Lahore, Iranian Consul General Muhammad Hammadi, Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) senior vice-president and SSGC managing-director Munawar Baseer Ahmad, PCF secretary-general Idrees Haider Kawaja and officials of Punjab Cycling Association welcomed riders as did hundreds of Lahoriites.
Sunday is a rest day for the cyclists in Lahore who will start their journey towards Gujrat on Monday for the 9th stage.-PR
