Abaseen Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) held health mini-marathon race to mark the Pakistan Day celebrations on Wednesday besides creating awareness among general public and children about various diseases. Sajjid Khan, an upcoming athlete won the 13km professional category title, followed by Shakir Khan, Asadullah, Zia, Mohammad Ali, Farman Raza, and Qaiser Khan.
Jawad Khan clinched first position followed by, Imtiaz, Munawar Khan, Babar Ali and Mohammad Munir in 5km school kids category.
In the veteran, Commissioner Income Tax, Qaiser Ali won the first position followed by former Ex-IGP Mohammad Saeed Khan, Saleem Khan Khalil, Zonal Chief NBP Shahjehan Khan, Dr Ihsan and Sultan Ali Sher.
Dr Zia, head of the Abaseen Institute of Medical Sciences said the AIMS had chosen projects and its activities in diabetes care and insulin program, preventive cardiology, maternal and child health, HIV, Aids, TB Dot, health promotion and advocacy and research and policy development by holding workshops, free camps, and free consultancy services to the villagers. At the end of the race, the chief guest, former Inspector General of Police NWFP, Mohammad Saeed Khan gave away cash prizes of Rs 3000 each to the first three position holders, Rs 2000 to fourth position holders and Rs 1000 to fifth and sixth position holders.
