Maersk Sealand, a leading shipping carrier, carrying bulk of the national exports, will increase from April 1 freight for the exports to all the Far East destinations by 50 dollars per Teu. The shipping line said on Friday that a general rate increase (GRI) would be applied on all the exports from Pakistan to Far East destinations. The quantum of the GRI was 50 dollars per Teu, which would be effective from April 1, it added.
The line, earlier, announced a GRI at the rate of 150 dollars per Teu on all the imports from Southeast Asia and Far East to Pakistan effective from April 1.
The increase would be applied on top of the existing freight rates and to all equipment types, it said.
Maersk further informed its customers that a GRI was being implemented on all the shipments to New Zealand at the rate of 200 dollars per Teu from April 1.
In another announcement, the line informed its customers that the US Inland fuel surcharge had been revised from April 1, with the quantum of 50 dollars per container, which would be applied to all containers booked on April 1.
