Shujaat to visit Dera Bugti again

PML President Shujaat Hussain will once again visit Dera Bugti to take further the dialogue process he initiated with JWP chief Akbar Bugti to ease the situation in the province. "Yes, I will go there (Dera Bugti) again soon," Shujaat, who is also head of the parliamentary committee on Balochistan, told media persons here on Friday after what opposition members termed an unproductive meeting of the panel.
He, however, did not disclose the schedule of his next visit, but a parliamentary source told Business Recorder that PML president might go to Dera Bugti on Saturday or Sunday.
Earlier in the day, Shujaat and Mushahid met President Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat separately to apprise them about their long parleys with the Bugti tribe chief.
Sources said that Shujaat would meet Bugti to discuss with him a new set of proposals to normalise situation of the area, where the country's biggest gas field is situated.
Earlier, a scheduled meeting of parliamentary committee on Balochistan could not discuss the issue as Shujaat suddenly left the venue when opposition members pressed him to apprise them about his dialogue with Bugti.
Sources said that he refused to share the details of his meeting with parliamentarians citing a commitment with Akbar Bugti of not disclosing the 'agreement' between them, "at least for three days".
But, when opposition members continued to press him, Shujaat walked out of the hall without formally calling off the meeting.
The way the PML president left the meeting took opposition members by surprise, who later told a news conference that they were not expecting such attitude from a seasoned politician as Shujaat.
Shujaat, however, defended himself at a media conference later, saying that had he disclosed the details of his meeting with Bugti, it would have been a breach of promise.
Meanwhile, a Baloch nationalist told Business Recorder that even if Shujaat and Bugti reached an accord, the other tribes of the province would not accept it.
"We can not accept anything less than provincial autonomy, and Shujaat-Bugti agreement lacking this would not be acceptable to us," Pukhtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Senator Raza Muhammad Raza said.
