Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will present future agenda of socio-economic development in the Asian countries at Fourth Foreign Ministers' Asian Co-operation Dialogue (ACD) conference, scheduled to take place in Islamabad on April 5. A senior Chinese official told APP here on Sunday that the Chinese Premier would deliver a keynote address at the conference, seeking to adopt a common strategy achieving long-term sustainable peace and development in the Asian region.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will inaugurate the two-day conference.
The ACD is an important regional forum, promoting understanding to resolve disputes among the member countries through dialogue. It will be participated by 26 regional countries to discuss ways and means further promoting peace, security and development in the Asian region.
The official said Chinese government attaches great importance to the ACD and wishes to see it an important forum for addressing issues of common interest.
"There will be a top-level participation from the Chinese side in the forthcoming meeting, strengthening the ACD's role in regional affairs," the sources added.
The third ministerial meeting held in China in June last had adopted a five-page declaration on 'Asia Co-operation' on important issues relating to the peace and development. The ACD reflects the common aspiration of Asian countries to increase co-operation. Since it was launched in 2001, the ACD has progressed smoothly with co-operation among the member states in various areas.
While dealing with economic issues, the member countries in the recent meeting had also proposed to form an energy forum to regularly discuss key energy aspects such as developing better energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, alternative fuels and improved energy infrastructure networks.
It was also decided at the meeting to intensify political dialogue, increase mutual trust and co-ordination on international and regional issues and work to create a 'harmonious and stable' environment in the region.
