Muttahida Majlis-e-Ammal (MMA) chief, Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that despite all immoral tactics of the government, there would be complete shutter down and wheel jam strike on Saturday, April 2. While addressing a press conference here on Thursday Qazi made an appeal to the traders and transporters' community to extend their co-operation and observe shutter down and wheel jam on April 2.
He alleged that Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao is threatening to register cases under the terrorist law to those who would observe strike. 'We had not given strike call for personal reasons but it is in the interest of common people who are suffering due escalating price hike and increasing petroleum prices. The traders and transporters have assured the MMA leadership that they would observe strike on April 2, he claimed.
He asked the MMA activists not to stop the ambulances and vehicles carrying students for appearing in their examinations.
Appreciating the ARD leadership for co-operating on strike, he said that joint committee of MMA and ARD would soon meet to chalk out future strategy.
Answering a question, he said MMA is agreed on three-point agenda with the opposition parties which include separation of Army Chief of Staff and President office to avert take over of any army general in future, restoration of constitution in its original shape and supremacy of constitution. We also want an independent and autonomous election commission for conducting fresh elections in a fair and transparent manner, he added.
