Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Shaukat Sultan on Friday said President General Pervez Musharraf will inaugurate the centenary celebrations of Command and Staff College, Quetta on Saturday. Addressing a press conference here, he said, 1,000 guests from Pakistan and abroad have been invited to attend the celebrations. He said 200 delegates from 30 countries of the world would also attend the function.
Shaukat Sultan said the oldest living graduate of the college, who attained his degree in 1958, belongs to the United Kingdom. He will also participate in the festival.
Bearing a rich history and prestigious status in the world, the Command and Staff College, Quetta was established in 1905, he said, adding that 24 student officers were given admission in the college in the first academic session.
He said 12,165 officers have so far graduated from this prestigious institution out of which 10,914 belonged to Pakistan Army, while the remaining belonged to Navy, Air Force and foreign countries.
"A total of 1,131 foreigners have also graduated from this institution since the establishment of Pakistan in 1947," he said, adding that admissions to the college are given to only those candidates who pass a competitive examination for this purpose.
Currently, he said, 305 officers are being imparted training at the institution.
