The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has strongly opposed import of second-hand auto parts and urged the government that it should conduct a comprehensive study on potential of local industry before changing existing policy. Addressing a reception given by Suhail Saithi group to FPCCI office-bearers in Rawalpindi, Iftikhar Ali Malik lauded the government policy of promoting local industries by providing adequate breathing space and said this strategy has started paying dividend to all concerned.
He said the government should not reverse its policy for any short-term benefit. He said that lifting of ban on import of second-hand auto parts would damage the local auto industries and discourage investment in this key area.
He asked the traders community to give preference to national interests over their personal interests.
Businessmen Panel leader Tariq Saeed said that his group would act as a bridge to bring the traders and industrialists and government closure on important issues. He said that FPCCI office-bearers were utilising all their energies to establish good culture of doing business in the country. He said the FPCCI team would visit all chambers and associations offices to create harmony among them on all policy issues.
Suhail Saithi in his address said the Businessmen Panel was the real representative of the traders and industrialists community and their big win in the previous elections of the FPCCI was its ample proof. He said his group has unflinching support for the Businessmen Panel.
The reception was attended by a large number of traders and industrialists and newly elected office-bearers of the FPCCI.
The President of the FPCCI and other newly elected office-bearers also addressed the reception and urged the traders and industrialists to work hard to help the country meet challenges of today's world.
