Only 17 people including four activists of PPP (women wing) including Begum Zubaida Khokhar were released from New Central Jail Multan while 16 activists including former Mayor of Multan Malik Salahuddin Dogar, two former federal ministers Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Awan and Mirza Nasir Baig, Khlid Hanif Lodhi, district president, Mian Manzoor Qadri, Javed Hashmi advocate, Rao Sajid Mehmood, Malik Asad vice president, chief organiser of Asif Zardari Committee, Salim-ur-Rehman Mayo, Mirza Nazir Baig, provincial chief of Asif Zardari committee were detained in Multan jail for three months under MPO-16 according to the orders of provincial home secretary.
PPP spokesman Tariq Raza Khan said that their detention would be challenged in High Court Multan Bench and protest camps would be established at district head quarter level till their release.
He said that PPP has begun a new struggle from April 16, and showed its strength and power by reaching at airport in a large number in spite of all hurdles taking risk of their lives.
He said that present regime had lost its credibility as it failed to deliver resultantly unemployment, price hike, rate of inflation, corruption, financial irregularities had increased to an alarming extent.
District and Tehsil Nazimeen had looted the national exchequer ruthlessly.
He bitterly criticised the government for its dual policy for ruling Muslim League and opposition parties.
He said that we had challenged the enforcement of 144 Cr.P.C in the High Court and submitted a fresh request to allow them for peaceful reception.
