Federal Minister for Railways, Mian Shamim Haider on Sunday said that Monabao-Khokhrapar train service between Pakistan and India would start from December 31 next. Talking to APP here, he said that repair work of Monabao-Khokhrapar railway track was in progress, which would be completed at a cost of Rs 1.25 billion. He said that no proposal was under consideration to increase the railway fare.
"Railways deficit is decreasing and its service is improving," the minister said.
He said that railway fare had not been increased despite hike in petroleum prices, adding that if the fare were increased then it would be 3 to 4 percent over 100-kilometre travel.
"We are trying our best to make the railways a public-service institution," he added.
