It is a matter of pride and pleasure that Pakistan Customs Computerised System (PACCS), a pilot project for Customs Administrative Reforms is being launched today. This has, indeed, laid the foundation of an integrated, automated and facilitative national tax system.
I am glad that with the PACCS, Pakistan Customs has entered into the era of virtual customs, introducing a level of transparency, predictability, certainly and efficiency, while leaving no place for unscrupulous practices in the system and reducing clearance time at our ports from days to hours.
Another important feature of PACCS is that it has been developed by the sons and daughters of the soil. I appreciate their endeavours for making this project a big success.
It is heartening to note that the experience gained under PACCS will pave the way for e-government in Pakistan. For its replication, all that we would require is a team of dedicated, talented and committed men and women, who are willing to look beyond their own interests and convenience.
My government commits its full support to all ventures of reform that serve to make Pakistan a strong, enlightened, progressive and developed nation.
It is a mater of further pride that various countries including Sweden, South Africa, UAE and Kuwait have expressed their desire to visit Pakistan and study the PACCS. I congratulate Mr M. Abdullah Yusuf, Chairman CBR and his team on a job well done and thank KICTL and PWC Logistics for their commitment and support to PACCS.
