Kenyan cricket selectors on Monday reappointed former captain Steve Tikolo to lead the national team in this month's ICC Intercontinental Cup match against Uganda in Kampala. The 33-year-old batsman had announced his decision to step down after the ICC Champions Trophy in England last September and was among the senior players who walked out of the team over a pay row a month later. "We have settled on Tikolo for the sake of continuation," said Tikolo's brother, Tom, himself a former Kenya cricket captain who chairs the national interim selection committee.
The interim committee was put in place after a truce, brokered by the African Cricket Association, ended a furious battle over the governorship of Kenyan cricket that had embroiled the sport since January.
THE KENYA SQUAD NAMED MONDAY IS:
Steve Tikolo (captain), Thomas Odoyo, Kennedy Obuya, David Obuya, Maurice Ouma, Martin Suji, Peter Ongondo, Hitesh Modi, Collins Obuya, Tanmay Mishra, Lamech Onyango, Malhar Patel, Kalpesh Patel, Nehemiah Odhiambo.
