Pakistan will host a six-day 12th General Assembly of Asian Pacific Parliamentarians Conference on Environment and Development (APPCED) from November 14-19. The Senate Secretariat would provide secretarial services for the conference, which is likely to be attended by the parliamentarians of 46 countries from Asia pacific. The main theme would be water conservation and sustainable development. Acting President and Chairman Senate, Muhammadmian Soomro presided over a meeting here on Wednesday to finalise the arrangements for the conference.
Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the importance of the conference and directed the concerned quarters to make every possible effort to make it a success.
The conference, Soomro observed, would provide an opportunity to portray a soft image of Pakistan abroad and promote its culture and tourism at the international level.
APPCED was created to resolve environmental and developmental issues threatening the sustainability of efforts being made for the betterment of human being.
