The District Council Lahore in its meeting held on Wednesday unanimously approved code of conduct for kite flying, which envisages six-month imprisonment and Rs 5000 fine on violation of the code of conduct. District Nazim Lahore, Mian Amer Mahmood presented the draft of the code of conduct prepared in the light of recommendations submitted by a committee headed by Tariq Sana Bajwa, Town Nazim Data Gunj Baksh Town. Some of the members demanded of the City District Government to totally ban the kite flying in the city. Responding to this demand, Mian Amer said that if code of conduct fails to control kite-flying accidents, it would be completely banned.
Under the code of conduct, the District Officer Environment has been empowered to announce punishment at the spot.
Moreover, the members belonging to Pakistan People's Party, Jamaat-i-Islami and PML (N) boycotted the session in protest against the arrests of PPP workers. An opposition member also presented a resolution to condemn the arrests of PPP workers.
The presiding officer, Hamid Hussain Khan said on the occasion that arrests of political workers are condemnable.
The meeting also accorded approval of new posts for 17 homeopathic dispensaries in the city, which would cost Rs 2,250,000 to the city government. The members also gave their approval for renaming the 150 roads of the provincial metropolis. The meeting also recommended additional one-month salary as honorarium to the employees of the District Council Secretariat and Finance Department of the City government.
The meeting also approved setting up of 7 CNG stations along the Ring Road under the Lahore Master Plan.
