Pakistan Telecom employee union (CBA) has threatened to jam the telecommunication system if their demands were not met forthwith and minimum salary was not fixed at Rs 10,000. Briefing the journalists here on Wednesday Saifuddin, General Secretary of the union told that union agreed to accept the contract offer conditionally made by Pakistan Telecommunication Company (PTCL).
He told that minimum wages of the contract workers should be fixed at Rs 0.1 million per-month or Rs 1.2 million per annum and contract period should not be less than five years and PTCL should be bound to pay the wages of five years in case of removal of any employee before ending the contract period.
He said, "we have handed over our charter of demand to the chairman of PTCL Junaid I Khan who has been drawing salary of Rs 1.7 million per month and central leader of the union Ziauddin Khan (Karachi) and general secretary Rana Tahir (Lahore) also discussed their demands with the chairman."
He said that minimum salary should not be less than Rs 10,000 per month on regular basis and implementation on the commitment made by the management during the two hours token strike of the workers.
